How to use PCM WAV Inspector and Trimmer

Read the actual RIFF chunk structure, then choose an integer frame range to export a fresh PCM WAV. Trim-only output preserves the selected sample bytes exactly. Inspector mode downloads a JSON report.

  1. Choose the operation and enter the values described by each field.
  2. Run the calculation locally, then review the units and supported scope.
  3. Copy the report or download the generated result.

Good to know

  • At most 20 MiB and120 seconds; rate8000–192000 Hz; one ordinary PCM fmt and one whole-frame nonempty data chunk. The size limit can reduce the usable duration.
  • Rejects compressed/extensible/float WAV, RIFX/RF64, duplicate chunks and inconsistent byte rates or padding. At most 1024 chunks.
  • Frame ranges are half-open. Export discards unrelated metadata; normalization uses no dither and cannot recover clipping. Keep your original.

Common questions

Is a frame the same as one sample?

A frame contains one sample per channel. A stereo frame contains both left and right samples at the same instant.

Can this edit MP3 files?

No. This bounded workbench supports the documented uncompressed16-bit PCM WAV subset.
