How to use Two-Track PCM WAV Mixer

Place two PCM recordings on one sample timeline and sum matching channels. Negative offsets begin the second file before the first. Over-range samples either stop the export or apply one documented global scale.

  1. Choose two WAV files with matching sample rates and channel counts.
  2. Set the second-file offset, each digital gain and overload handling.
  3. Run, review placement and global scale, then download the mixed WAV.

Good to know

  • Local ordinary little-endian RIFF/WAVE, signed 16-bit mono or stereo PCM only; compressed, float and extensible WAV are rejected.
  • Each input is at most 10 MiB, 120 seconds and 2,880,000 frames. Output is bounded by the same frame/duration limits and 20 MiB; high sample rates reduce available duration.
  • Processing uses a local Worker with a 2-second compute deadline. No upload, autoplay, microphone or saved history. Unrelated metadata is omitted from exports.
  • The tool sums corresponding channels without resampling, alignment detection, pan controls, denoising or automatic crossfades.
  • Global scaling uses one factor for the whole result; it is peak protection rather than dynamic compression or a loudness target.

Common questions

What happens with a negative offset?

The output timeline starts with the earlier second file. The report gives both resulting start frames.

Will an overloaded mix be clipped?

Reject mode stops it. Scale mode reduces every output sample by the same factor before 16-bit rounding; no deliberate hard clipping or dither is added.
