How to use Test Tone WAV Generator
Create actual sample data for a test file without recording or uploading audio. The level is a digital sample-peak target in dBFS. The report includes achieved quantized peak and duration; nothing plays automatically.
- Choose the operation and enter the values described by each field.
- Run the calculation locally, then review the units and supported scope.
- Copy the report or download the generated result.
Good to know
- Fixed48000 Hz, mono,16-bit PCM;20–20000 Hz and at most 10 seconds. Duration and fade are rounded to complete frames.
- Fades are linear at both ends, must not overlap, and begin/end at zero. Zero fade is explicitly supported.
- The file is not an acoustic level calibration. Sampled peak can differ from the requested continuous sine amplitude; no autoplay.
Common questions
Is the frequency measured from my microphone?
No. The generator synthesizes the requested mathematical sine wave locally.
What does a negative dBFS level mean?
It is below digital full scale. It does not specify sound pressure at a speaker or headphone.
