How to use Binary Text Converter

See the binary bytes behind text, including non-English writing and emoji. Encoding uses UTF-8; decoding rejects incomplete bytes and invalid UTF-8 sequences.

  1. Choose text-to-binary or binary-to-text.
  2. For decoding, enter 8-bit bytes with optional spaces or line breaks.
  3. Run the conversion and copy or download the result.

Good to know

  • The encoding is UTF-8, not UTF-16, legacy ASCII extensions, or arbitrary binary-file conversion.
  • Decoded bytes must form valid UTF-8. Incomplete Unicode surrogates in text input are rejected. An initial UTF-8 byte-order mark is consumed by the browser decoder.

Common questions

Why does one emoji become several bytes?

UTF-8 uses one to four bytes for each Unicode code point, and a displayed emoji can contain multiple code points.

Can the input omit spaces between bytes?

Yes. A continuous stream is accepted when it contains only 0 and 1 and its length is a multiple of eight.
