How to use URL Encoder
Encode an individual URL value using encodeURIComponent. Spaces become %20, and reserved characters such as &, =, /, and ? are escaped.
- Enter one query value or path segment.
- Run the encoder.
- Place the encoded value into the appropriate part of your URL.
Good to know
- Encodes a component, so it also escapes the separators of a whole URL.
- Uses %20 for spaces, not application/x-www-form-urlencoded +.
- Up to 200,000 input characters. Incomplete Unicode surrogates are rejected.
Common questions
Should I encode a complete URL?
Usually encode only the values or path segments you are inserting, so structural URL separators stay intact.
Is an encoded URL safe to visit?
Encoding does not establish whether a destination is trustworthy. This tool does not open URLs.
