How to use Music Pitch and Interval Calculator
Use middle C = C4 = MIDI 60 to connect written pitch, equal-tempered note numbers and frequency. Interval mode compares two scientific pitches; it reports sounding semitones rather than theoretical enharmonic interval names.
- Choose the operation and enter the values described by each field.
- Run the calculation locally, then review the units and supported scope.
- Copy the report or download the generated result.
Good to know
- Scientific names use A–G, one optional ASCII # or b and a written octave from -1 through 9; the sounding MIDI range is0–127.
- Frequency mode accepts the exact frequency range of MIDI 0–127 at the selected reference. Full numerical precision is retained in the report.
- No microphone, tuning detection, historical temperament or key-aware spelling.
Common questions
Why does B#3 become C4?
An accidental changes the sounding semitone before the octave is normalized. B#3 crosses the octave boundary; Cb4 sounds as B3.
Can I use a reference other than 440 Hz?
Yes. Enter A4 from 400 through 480 Hz. Every frequency and interval uses that reference in 12-tone equal temperament.
