How to use Online Stopwatch with Laps

Prepare a stopwatch, start it, and record lap splits while it runs. Each lap shows its own interval and the total elapsed time; pausing excludes that pause from subsequent totals.

  1. Select Run tool to prepare the stopwatch, then select Start.
  2. Record laps while running, or pause and resume to exclude a break.
  3. Copy or download the current session before restarting, resetting or closing the tab.

Good to know

  • This tab holds at most 200 laps and 24 hours of elapsed time, with no saved history or upload.
  • Displayed milliseconds reflect the browser clock and are not a certified measurement of device performance or athletic results.
  • Background throttling delays display updates; device sleep may pause elapsed timing on some systems.

Common questions

What is the difference between split and total time?

A split measures elapsed running time since the previous lap. Total is elapsed running time since Start, excluding pauses.

Does pausing erase recorded laps?

No. Pause and resume retain laps. Restart clears them and returns to zero; Reset removes the result panel.

Does it keep running when I leave the page?

Closing or reloading the page discards the session. Background tab updates may be delayed and device sleep can affect timing.
