How to use Explicit Text Range Redactor

Apply a reviewed redaction manifest to a plain-text excerpt. Ranges use zero-based scalar offsets with an excluded end, and the output contains only the resulting text plus aggregate counts, with no automatic sensitive-data detection.

  1. Enter input, ranges json.
  2. Choose the settings for explicit text range redactor, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 100,000 source UTF-16 characters, 1,000 ascending nonoverlapping ranges, 1,000 characters per replacement and 200,000 output scalar values. Unpaired surrogates are refused. Raw JSON coordinates must be exact integers; equivalent 1.0 and 1e0 spellings are allowed.
  • Explicit text positions only. This does not detect secrets, scrub document metadata, redact a PDF/image or remove the original input from your browser memory. Review output before sharing.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Does one emoji always occupy one position?

One Unicode scalar occupies one position. A family emoji or an accented grapheme may contain several scalars; this coordinate system is explicit and does not guess visible-character boundaries.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
