How to use Unicode Code Point Converter

Inspect the exact Unicode values behind a string or reconstruct text from a documented sequence. Supplementary characters are handled as whole code points.

  1. Choose encoding or decoding.
  2. For decoding, enter hexadecimal tokens separated by whitespace, commas, or semicolons.
  3. Run and inspect the returned sequence or reconstructed text.

Good to know

  • Code points are not graphemes or UTF-8 bytes. One displayed emoji can contain several code points.
  • Surrogates and values beyond U+10FFFF are rejected. Decoding accepts scalar values but does not verify whether a value is assigned a character.
  • Backslash escapes are parsed as data; no JavaScript code is evaluated.

Common questions

Can I decode a full JavaScript string literal?

No. Enter separate code-point tokens, not quotes or arbitrary source code.

Will U+000A create a newline?

Yes. Decoded controls are returned as plain text, so inspect the source sequence when output is invisible.
