Exam Pacing Timetable Workbench

Build an authored exam question checkpoint plan from available seconds, opening/review reserves, breaks, optional fixed sections and exact source-order time allocation.

✓ Browser-local processing
Use the complete example schema. Quantities are exact decimal strings with up to six places; do not replace them with JSON decimal numbers.

How to use Exam Pacing Timetable Workbench

Enter an overall duration and start clock, reserve opening and review time, then list ordered sections and question weights. Fixed section budgets remain fixed; flexible sections share the remaining seconds. Exact largest-remainder allocation creates integer-second checkpoints while preserving the full time budget.

  1. Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
  2. Enter an overall duration and start clock, reserve opening and review time, then list ordered sections and question weights. Fixed section budgets remain fixed; flexible sections share the remaining seconds. Exact largest-remainder allocation creates integer-second checkpoints while preserving the full time budget.
  3. Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.

Good to know

  • Duration 1–86,400 seconds, at most 20 sections and 500 questions overall. Reserves, fixed budgets and breaks are nonnegative integers within the overall time. Weights are positive and at most 1,000,000. This is your static planning convention, not an official exam schedule, score optimizer, timer or accessibility ruling.
  • Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Do question weights have to equal the available marks?

No. They are your positive relative time weights. Marks can be a useful input when you choose that convention, but the tool does not assume every subject or question needs proportional time. Fixed budgets and reserve periods always remain explicit.

Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?

No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
