How to use CSV Adjacency Tree Builder

Turn an authored parent-reference table into a portable hierarchy without guessing roots or collapsing duplicate labels. The nested output retains header order and exact string cells, while missing parents and rootless cycles remain errors rather than silently lost records.

  1. Enter input, id column, parent id column.
  2. Choose the settings for csv adjacency tree builder, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 2,000 rows and 200,000 CSV characters (50,000 per cell, 100 columns); exact nonempty unique IDs, an existing parent or the empty-root marker, at most 50 parent edges and a conservative 900,000-character formatted-output estimate before nested allocation. Original cells are stored in arrays rather than unsafe key projection.
  • No inferred taxonomy, case/number normalization, orphan repair, BOM arithmetic or relationship fetch. Root and sibling order follows source order; an empty table yields an empty forest. Nested JSON remains a bounded export, not a rendered interactive tree.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Are IDs 01 and 1 treated as the same number?

No. IDs and parent references are exact strings. They remain distinct, and every nonempty parent must identify one supplied exact ID.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
