How to use Printable Protractor SVG Builder
Choose a physical radius, half or full circle, paper format, margins and whether degree numbers are included. The tool creates the actual instrument cut outline, degree ticks, two directional scales, center and baseline alignment marks. It checks the unscaled paper footprint with extra ink clearance and exports an SVG plus the full position report.
- Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.

- Calculate, inspect the complete report and limitations, then copy the report or download the generated JSON or SVG artifact.
Good to know
- Radius is 60–120 mm and margin is 5–25 mm, entered as decimal strings with up to six places. Span is the plain JSON integer 180 or 360. Labels use an explicit true/false flag. Fixed one-degree ticks, five-degree middle ticks and ten-degree major ticks; at most 360 ticks and 72 degree labels.
- A4 or Letter portrait/landscape and custom sheets reserve margins, two 12 mm annotation bands and 0.25 mm extra ink clearance around the physical body. A half circle has a 5 mm lower band. Unsupported preset fits are refused without rotation, scale-to-fit or tiling. Custom sheets are at most 290.5 × 314.5 mm; the SVG is capped at 100,000 characters.
- Half-circle outer numbers use the right zero and inner numbers use the left zero. Full-circle outer numbers increase counterclockwise and inner numbers clockwise from the right zero; 360 is represented by 0. Align the center and select the correct zero ray. This is an instrument artifact, not a polar graph or an angle-answer worksheet.
- Page/body/clearance values are exact fractions; noncardinal tick and label positions use approximate finite JavaScript trigonometry serialized to nine decimal mm places. This does not promise that physical accuracy. Title uses at most 80 UTF-16 code units and escaped text. Text retains normal glyph proportions; long annotation strings only reduce font size conservatively. Actual fonts, cutting, paper, output scale and printer calibration need checking. No industrial measuring accuracy or learning/curriculum certification is supplied.
- Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
Common questions
Can I measure accurately if my printer shrinks the page?
Uniform resizing preserves ideal angles, but changes the intended physical size and tick readability. Unequal horizontal and vertical stretching changes angles. Export at 100%, verify the 20 mm check line and center alignment, and inspect the output. This paper tool is not a calibrated measuring instrument.
Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?
No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON or SVG download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
