How to use Line Counter
Measure lists, logs, or multiline text with explicit blank-line rules. Windows, Unix, and classic Mac line endings are recognized as line separators.
- Paste a list or document.
- Read the total and the blank/non-empty breakdown.
- Remove empty lines with the related tool if you need a compact list.
Good to know
- Empty input has zero lines. Each line separator adds a line, so a final newline creates a final blank line.
- A line containing only spaces or tabs is considered blank. Visual wrapping in the text box does not create lines.
Common questions
Why is there an extra line at the end?
A trailing newline starts an empty logical line. This tool includes it in the total.
Are wrapped lines counted?
No. Only explicit CRLF, LF, or CR line endings divide lines.
