How to use JSON Merge Patch Workbench
Use null deletion and atomic array replacement deliberately. Drafted patches are reapplied and checked before export so an unrepresentable target is refused.
- Enter input, patch or desired target.
- Choose the settings for json merge patch workbench, then run the tool.
- Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.
Good to know
- 100,000 characters per document,10,000 values and40 levels. Arrays replace as a whole; null in an object deletes a property.
- Draft cannot represent every null-valued object addition. No remote references or original-document mutation.
- Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.
Common questions
Is this a JSON Patch operation list?
No. RFC7396 uses an object-shaped document; RFC6902 JSON Patch uses explicit operations and can express additional distinctions.
Is this input sent to a server?
No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
