How to use HTML Entity Converter
Prepare plain text for an HTML text context or recover readable text from character references. Output remains inert text in this page, even when it contains markup characters.
- Choose encoding or decoding and paste the text.
- Select Run tool to convert supported HTML character references.
- Review the result, then copy it or download the generated file.
Good to know
- Up to 200,000 characters. Decode supports amp, lt, gt, quot, apos, nbsp, and semicolon-terminated decimal/hex numeric references; other named entities stay unchanged.
- Not an HTML sanitizer or attribute/JavaScript encoder. Numeric C1 references follow HTML’s legacy Windows-1252 mapping; invalid Unicode scalar references remain unchanged. Decoding runs once.
Common questions
Will © be decoded?
