How to use GZIP File Converter
Use the browser’s native compression streams without uploading bytes. Decompression is stopped as soon as its absolute output budget would be exceeded.
- Enter local file.
- Choose the settings for gzip file converter, then run the tool.
- Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.
Good to know
- 8 MiB input and 32 MiB absolute output. Each streamed chunk is checked before storage; a 5-second elapsed budget is checked between chunks.
- GZIP only, not ZIP/TAR archive extraction. Browser support varies, and preserved filenames/metadata are not promised.
- Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.
Common questions
Can a tiny compressed input expand without a limit?
No. The reader is cancelled before storing a chunk that exceeds the absolute output cap.
Is this input sent to a server?
No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
