How to use Selected File Set Change Auditor

Review before/after local files without filesystem access beyond your selections. The report distinguishes changed same-name files, additions, removals and uniquely matching removed/added content while preserving ambiguity for duplicate copies.

Good to know

  • 20 nonempty file selections per set, unique exact names of at most 200 characters and 8 MiB combined source bytes across both sets. Empty file contents are allowed.
  • Files stay local and are not modified. Content equality does not establish rename history, timestamps, permissions, directory structure or provenance; ambiguous duplicate content is not assigned a move.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Can two identical copies be reported as a definite rename?

No. A suggested move requires one removed file and one added file with matching hash, length and bytes. Duplicate candidates remain in the added/removed lists for manual review.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
