How to use Bounded FASTQ Quality Profiler
Inspect read lengths, per-position quality, quality histograms and supplied error-probability summaries locally. The report distinguishes mean Phred from the Phred transform of mean estimated error probability and keeps unavailable certainty out of the result.
- Enter optional local utf-8 source file, input.
- Choose the settings for bounded fastq quality profiler, then run the tool.
- Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.
Good to know
- 200,000 UTF-8 source bytes/characters, 5,000 unwrapped four-line reads, 1,000 bases per read and 80,000 bases total. File input takes precedence.
- Only A/C/G/T/N and Phred+33 printable quality characters are supported. Multiline FASTQ, Phred+64, Solexa encoding and inferred trimming are refused or unsupported. Read details show the first 1,000 reads; summary counts cover all accepted reads.
- Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.
Common questions
Can the tool autodetect an older quality encoding?
No. Character ranges overlap between encodings. Use this only when Phred+33 is known, rather than treating an ambiguous guess as measured quality.
Is this input sent to a server?
No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
