How to use DNA FASTA Sequence Workbench

Prepare small original DNA sequence files through an explicit profile. Reports separate unambiguous-base GC fractions from ambiguous symbols, and translation retains stop markers while exposing skipped leading and incomplete trailing bases.

  1. Enter optional local utf-8 source file, input.
  2. Choose the settings for dna fasta sequence workbench, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 200,000 UTF-8 source bytes/characters, 200 records, 80,000 DNA symbols and 1,000 characters per definition line. A selected file takes precedence over pasted text.
  • DNA alphabet only; no U, alignment gaps or sequence-line whitespace. Translation uses standard code 1, does not infer a coding region or special initiation, and maps every ambiguous triplet to X. An initial BOM is consumed; FASTA downloads use LF and 80-symbol wrapping.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Are ambiguous symbols counted as certain G or C bases?

No. GC is reported only among unambiguous A/C/G/T bases, with ambiguous counts shown separately. An all-ambiguous sequence has a null definite-base GC fraction.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
