How to use CSV Sorter
Reorder a table by a chosen column without losing quoted cell boundaries. Numeric mode validates every selected value; text mode uses deterministic code-unit ordering rather than locale guessing.
- Choose the exact column name, value type, and sort direction.
- Select Run tool to sort data rows while retaining the header.
- Review the result, then copy it or download the generated file.
Good to know
- Up to 200,000 characters, 5,001 records, 200 columns, and 50,000 characters per cell. Quotes must follow CSV rules; output CSV uses formula-safe apostrophe prefixes where needed.
- Numeric sorting uses JavaScript finite numbers and can lose precision for very large integers. Equal values retain their original order.
Common questions
Are blank numeric cells treated as zero?
No. Blank or nonnumeric selected cells cause a validation error.
