How to use Caption Timing and Reading Load Auditor

Measure a cue-only SRT/WebVTT profile without loading media. The report shows timing and literal Unicode-code-point counts, with separate custom-policy findings for gaps, overlaps and out-of-order source cues.

  1. Enter input, maximum code points per second, maximum source code points per line, minimum adjacent gap (ms), maximum duration (ms).
  2. Choose the settings for caption timing and reading load auditor, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 100,000 source characters,5000 cues and2000 payload characters per cue. Detailed metrics show the first1000 cues; issue and cue counts cover the entire input.
  • Only the existing cue-only grammar is supported: no VTT settings, regions or style blocks. Invalid or zero-duration cues are refused. Markup is counted literally, not rendered or stripped. Thresholds are user policy, not a Netflix/WCAG conformance verdict.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Can a caption with zero duration have a valid speed?

No. The supported parser refuses it before computing reading load. Fix invalid timing rather than treating it as zero or silently dividing by zero.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
