How to use Transcription Duration Billing Ledger

Raw recording length can differ from billed duration. Reconcile explicit rounding, channels and retry assumptions per file before estimating a transcription budget.

  1. Record actual file durations, channel counts and total charged attempts.
  2. Enter independently checked increment, minimum, rate and channel billing policy.
  3. Review first-attempt and retry seconds, then compare with real provider invoice rules and charges.

Good to know

  • Per file: maximum(actual duration, minimum), round upward to the second increment, optionally multiply by channels, then multiply by attempts. Each retry is assumed to repeat the declared full duration.
  • At most 32 channels, 100 attempts and 864,000 source seconds per file. These are explicit arithmetic assumptions, not current Deepgram or other provider pricing.
  • No audio is opened or transcribed. Exempt retries, discounts, channel aggregation and taxes need independent reconciliation. Repeating decimal exports include an ellipsis.
  • Each field is limited to 8,000 UTF-16 characters; CSV inputs use the exact displayed header and at most 100 data rows. Quoted commas, doubled quotes and quoted newlines are supported. Empty/duplicate identities, unsupported controls and unpaired surrogates are refused.
  • Exports are editable review records. Spreadsheet-like text is apostrophe-prefixed in CSV to reduce formula execution risk; inspect your actual spreadsheet/import settings before sharing.
  • Everything runs locally in your browser. No AI model, upload, provider account, calendar, call, video render, automatic outreach, publication or saved input. Enter only information you are authorized to process; declarations remain unverified.

Common questions

Does per-file billing still retain a stereo channel declaration?

Yes. It records the channels but multiplies duration by one. Per-channel billing multiplies each attempt by the entered channel count.

Are failed attempts always charged?

Not necessarily. Enter only the total chargeable attempts supported by your checked provider rules; the model does not infer exemptions.
