How to use Transcript Edit Decision List

A transcript edit needs a precise record of which source intervals stay and where they land in the output. Build that record from your own decisions without having software invent editorial intent.

  1. Enter actual source intervals and transcript text in source order.
  2. Mark keep or cut yourself; resolve any overlapping or reversed interval first.
  3. Review the reconstructed timeline, export it and apply approved changes in your own editor.

Good to know

  • The result is a decimal-second handoff, not CMX EDL, frame/timecode conversion or a rendered recording. Unlisted gaps remain unclassified.
  • Only entered decisions are applied to the output timeline. Context, meaning, consent, transitions and physical edit boundaries remain human checks.
  • Inputs are limited to 8,000 characters per field and 100 CSV data rows with exact displayed headers. Quoted commas, doubled quotes and quoted line endings are supported. Empty/duplicate identities and unsupported numeric values are refused; per-tool output bounds also apply.
  • CSV text that resembles a spreadsheet formula is apostrophe-prefixed. This reduces formula execution risk without certifying every spreadsheet/import configuration.
  • Deterministic browser-local work only. No AI model, upload, account connection, outreach, payment, saved input or automatic publication. Exports keep user-entered facts unverified; inspect edited drafts before sharing.

Research behind this workbench

These cases explain the business mechanism. The workbench is ToolJovia's independent adaptation, not a claim about the company's internal workflow or an endorsement.

Common questions

Do unlisted gaps become cuts?

No. Cut duration is only the sum of explicit cut intervals. Output time simply concatenates the submitted keep intervals.

Can overlapping intervals be accepted?

No. The bounded profile refuses overlaps and out-of-order intervals so the source-to-output mapping cannot silently double-count material.
