How to use Repeating Texture Seam Inspector

Measure opposite-edge byte differences and download half-offset and tiled-preview images. Inset edge pairs compare x with width−1−x and y with height−1−y. A circular half offset moves the original joins into the center for visual inspection.

  1. Provide local texture, inset edge pairs.
  2. Choose the supported mode and run the tool. Review its assumptions and any reported errors.
  3. Copy the result or download a separate output; reset to clear the current form.

Good to know

  • Static PNG, baseline JPEG or simple WebP only;8MiB/file,4096px per side. Structural preflight runs before native decode; animations, extended WebP, progressive JPEG and compressed PNG metadata are rejected.
  • Separate worker:10seconds loading/preparation,2seconds compute. Canvas operates on decoded8-bit browser channels, not raw sensor or color-calibrated values.
  • Source at most2MP; strip1–32 must fit both axes. Nearest-neighbor repeat preview is at most1024×1024 and may be resampled; edge measurements use unscaled source bytes. ZIP capped at16MiB.
  • The metric is unweighted RGBA byte error and is not a perceptual seam score. No automatic seamless repair or hidden-alpha reconstruction. Odd-size offsets use floor(width/2),floor(height/2).
  • Inputs are processed on this device and are not automatically saved or uploaded.

Common questions

Does a zero edge error prove a texture is seamless?

No. Matching border bytes do not measure interior repetition, filtering, material response or perception.

Does this change my original input?

No. The tool returns a separate result. Review that output before using it in another application.
