How to use Declared Survey Scale Score Builder

Apply a transparent questionnaire scoring recipe to local response records. Original responses remain visible, missing and invalid items follow separate policies, and every scale carries its own minimum answered count rather than an inferred instrument rule.

  1. Enter input, unique respondent id column, item bounds and reverse flags json, named scale recipes json, exact missing tokens json, output decimal places (0–12).
  2. Choose the settings for declared survey scale score builder, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 2,000 respondent records and 200,000 CSV characters, 30 items, 10 scales, 12 normalized decimal places per numeric input and 350,000 output cell characters.
  • User-defined rules only; no published instrument, norm, mental-health diagnosis, reliability, validity or population interpretation. Reversal uses lower + upper - response. Invalid values invalidate the affected scale, while explicitly missing values follow its answered-item threshold.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Does a mean replace unanswered items with the midpoint?

No. It averages only valid answered items after the explicit minimum is met. No imputation is performed, and an invalid item is not silently counted as missing.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
