How to use Sudoku Solution Inspector

Row, column and box bitsets validate the givens. Backtracking chooses the blank with the fewest candidates and stops after two solutions or500000 candidate-cell inspections. A unique result requires the search to finish; an exhausted budget remains unresolved.

  1. Enter sudoku rows (0 or dot for blanks).
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Standard9×9 Sudoku only, exactly81 ASCII digits/dots plus optional whitespace, at most1000 input characters. No variant cages, diagonal constraints, puzzle generation or difficulty score. At most500000 inspected blank cells and recursion depth81; a hard puzzle may return unresolved even after finding a witness. No uploaded or saved puzzle.
  • Runs locally without input persistence. Text/JSON fields have a30000-character cap unless a stricter page limit applies; output has a1000000-character cap. Exact-grid workflows preserve six-decimal arithmetic, while approximate workflows use finite floating-point values. JSON downloads retain complete stored numeric values and exact fractions where provided. Unsupported formats and detected numeric or work-budget excess return an error or a clearly unresolved classification.

Common questions

What does an unresolved result mean?

The fixed search budget ended before classification was proved. Any displayed board is a solution witness, but one witness alone does not establish uniqueness. Two distinct witnesses are enough to establish multiple solutions.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
