How to use Raster Poster Tiling PDF

Turn one static image into a real multi-page poster PDF with explicit physical width, paper margins and assembly overlap. Preserve the source aspect ratio, clip one reused raster across numbered page tiles and inspect placement witnesses. Only a raster is accepted; no supplied PDF is parsed or edited.

  1. Provide static source image, poster width in millimeters, paper margin in millimeters, tile overlap in millimeters.
  2. Choose the supported mode and run the tool. Review its assumptions and any reported errors.
  3. Copy the result or download a separate output; reset to clear the current form.

Good to know

  • One static PNG, baseline JPEG or simple WebP of at most 8 MiB, 2,000,000 pixels and 2,048 per side, structurally checked before native decoding. Animated/extended formats, progressive JPEG, compressed PNG metadata, SVG/GIF and header/native orientation dimension disagreements are refused. A new bounded PNG is generated before PDF embedding.
  • Select A4 210 × 297 mm or Letter 215.9 × 279.4 mm, portrait/landscape. Poster width is 1–2,000 mm; height follows the actual source aspect ratio. Margin 0–30 mm and overlap 0–20 mm use at most one decimal place. Raw fractional/exponent spellings outside that fixed precision are refused rather than rounded.
  • At most 64 pages. Exact tenth-millimeter integer/rational arithmetic selects the grid before allocating pages. Adjacent origins advance by printable side minus overlap. The final row/column may contain substantial unused white area; there is no page-count optimization, automatic rotation or multi-image packing.
  • Each page clips the same embedded image to its printable rectangle. PDF coordinates use 72 points per inch and 25.4 mm per inch; coordinate serialization is finite precision. Number labels are included only when margins are at least 5 mm. There are no crop/registration marks, bleed, color profiles or professional print-production guarantees.
  • Print at actual size / 100%, with fit-to-page disabled, and test one page with your printer first. Printer nonprintable areas/scaling, paper tolerances and assembly can change the physical result. This tool does not measure a printer, improve low source resolution or infer a target PPI.
  • Native decode waits up to 10 seconds and PNG encoding up to 5 seconds, with late-result/resource cleanup. A dedicated PDF module Worker loads pdf-lib before ready within 10 seconds, then has a separate 2-second computation cap. PNG is at most 8 MiB and PDF at most 12 MiB; the image is embedded once and reused across all pages.
  • No user PDF is opened, untrusted HTML/SVG mounted, URL fetched, script/form generated or file uploaded. Browser decoding and PNG re-encoding can change pixels/metadata. Generated output still requires native PDF/print review before relying on the planned layout.
  • Structured text output is limited to 500,000 characters. Reduce the supplied source when that separate output budget is exceeded.
  • Inputs are processed on this device and are not automatically saved or uploaded.

Common questions

Why is the final tile sometimes mostly blank?

The grid advances by the printable paper size minus the overlap you selected. A small remaining strip still needs its own page to preserve the full poster and physical size. The tool keeps that strip rather than silently shrinking or cutting it off; change paper, width or overlap if you prefer a different grid.

Does this change my original input?

No. The tool returns a separate result. Review that output before using it in another application.
