How to use Print Bleed & DPI Preflight

Prepare a traceable print handoff from actual client and printer measurements. The review combines required canvas size, pixel resolution and entered content bounds rather than offering only a single DPI conversion.

  1. Copy the actual trim, bleed, safe inset, minimum DPI and dimension tolerance from the approved print specification.
  2. Enter each asset’s actual pixel size, physical canvas size and measured content bounds; leave genuinely unknown metadata blank.
  3. Resolve size, DPI and content-safety holds in the design file, then export the complete review for the printer’s approval.

Good to know

  • Resolution uses25.4mm per inch on the full declared canvas, independently for each axis. A blank dimension is unknown and cannot pass the check.
  • No file, color profile, embedded font, print-ready certification or real bleed artwork is inspected. Final printer requirements control.
  • Exact displayed CSV headers; at most100 data rows and8,000 UTF-16 characters per input. Plain decimals have at most9 fractional places; display rounds half-up to12 places. Unknown evidence stays unknown. CSV exports preserve summaries, settings, every calculated detail/finding, limitations and scoped input records; spreadsheet-like text is apostrophe-prefixed.
  • Browser-local supplied-record review. No AI, network requests, provider connection, file upload, stored input or automatic delivery. Use neutral identifiers instead of personal information or secrets.

Common questions

Does sufficient DPI establish print quality?

No. The pixels could be blurred or incorrectly measured. This only checks the supplied arithmetic and physical specification.

Where is the safe inset measured from?

From the trim edge. The full-canvas safe start is bleed plus inset; the safe end is bleed plus trim size minus inset.
