How to use Number to English Words
Write numeric values in readable English without passing their integer digits through floating-point arithmetic. Whole-number groups retain exact source magnitude, decimal digits are read one by one, and the selected “and” convention is explicit. This is one bounded spelling workflow, with no currency, legal-document or locale-compliance assumptions hidden in the result.
- Enter one to one hundred canonical numeric lines without spaces, grouping separators or exponents.
- Choose cardinal/decimal reading or nonnegative whole-number ordinals, and your declared “and” convention.
- Copy or download the spelled lines and check the conventions required by your final document.
Good to know
- At most 10,000 source characters and 100 nonempty lines, with 1–15 integer digits and optionally 1–12 fractional digits. Canonical zero or nonzero-leading integer spelling is required. Only a leading minus is permitted; no plus, grouping, exponent or locale decimal separator.
- Cardinal integer grouping uses BigInt below one quadrillion. A fractional suffix is preserved digit by digit after “point”, including trailing zeros. Negative zero remains “minus zero” when explicitly supplied. Ordinals refuse negative values and any fractional suffix.
- omit-and omits conjunctions; include-and inserts them within nonexact hundreds and before a final remainder below 100 after larger groups. Tens and units use hyphens. These declared conventions do not claim every regional, editorial or CLDR spellout form.
- No currency units, cheque wording, dates/years, fractions-as-denominators, Roman numerals, Indian lakh/crore numbering, pronunciation audio or legal correctness is inferred. Numerals may be clearer in the final context; this tool does not advise spelling every number.
- Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.
Common questions
Will 1.050 be shortened to 1.05 before spelling?
No. The fractional source digits are read as “zero five zero”. This preserves the supplied spelling instead of inventing a precision or rounding policy.
Is this input sent to a server?
No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
