How to use N-gram Generator
Inspect recurring adjacent phrases or character sequences. N-grams preserve local order and overlap, helping reveal repetition beyond single-word frequency.
- Choose word or grapheme units and enter text.
- Set n, case handling, and report length.
- Generate overlapping sequences and inspect their counts.
Good to know
- Word mode ignores punctuation and can form n-grams across sentence boundaries. Character mode includes whitespace.
- At most 20,000 units, n from 1–10, and 1,000 displayed rows. No padding or language model is added.
Common questions
Do the sequences overlap?
Yes. For red blue green, bigrams are red blue and blue green.
What if n is larger than the input?
There are no complete n-grams, so the report contains only its header and zero totals.
