How to use Markdown Front Matter Editor

Edit front matter as data without running a template engine. Replacement accepts a JSON object and serializes it as standard YAML before the unchanged body.

  1. Enter input, replacement json object.
  2. Choose the settings for markdown front matter editor, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • Only YAML front matter beginning at the first character is supported. Replacement replaces the complete map; scalar style/comments can change.
  • Liquid, includes, custom YAML tags and arbitrary templates are never executed.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Will replacing metadata reformat the Markdown body?

No. The body text after the closing delimiter is copied unchanged.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
