How to use Dynamic Lot-sizing Workbench
Compare consecutive-demand batches with exact dynamic programming, then expose every order, ending inventory and setup/holding charge in a conserved schedule.
- Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
- Compare consecutive-demand batches with exact dynamic programming, then expose every order, ending inventory and setup/holding charge in a conserved schedule.
- Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.
Good to know
- 1–60 periods; each demand, setup and ending-stock holding rate is a nonnegative decimal string no greater than 1 billion. All quantities use one unit and all costs one currency.
- Instant unlimited replenishment before demand; zero opening and terminal stock. No shortages, lead time, capacity, purchase-price changes, tax or uncertainty. Final-period holding is validated but costs nothing because terminal stock is zero.
- Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
Common questions
Does this replace a material requirements plan?
No. It chooses order periods for one supplied deterministic demand stream. Component explosion, supplier calendars, scheduled receipts and lead-time offsets need their own planning inputs.
Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?
No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
