How to use Single-period Stock Scenario Workbench
Evaluate exact expected selling/salvage proceeds at every demand breakpoint, compare the critical fractile and retain the full interval of tied integer quantities.
- Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
- Evaluate exact expected selling/salvage proceeds at every demand breakpoint, compare the critical fractile and retain the full interval of tied integer quantities.
- Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.
Good to know
- 1–50 distinct demand outcomes of 0–1,000,000 whole units. Probabilities are exact decimal strings summing to 1; zero-probability rows are permitted. Require 0 ≤ salvage < cost < selling price ≤ 1 billion.
- One order before one lost-sales period, no existing inventory, capacity restriction or separate shortage penalty. Enter your own assumptions; this model does not estimate demand or recommend a real purchase.
- Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
Common questions
Why can several order quantities tie?
Expected profit is piecewise linear. When a cumulative probability equals the critical fractile, every integer quantity across that flat segment is optimal under this exact entered model; the smallest is selected.
Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?
No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
