How to use DOCX Revision Source Inventory

Inspect selected tracked-change source markers without accepting or rejecting them. Bounded ZIP preflight, CRC-checked extraction and inert XML parsing keep part names and revision evidence separate from a rendered Word comparison or a full privacy audit.

  1. Enter local file.
  2. Choose the settings for docx revision source inventory, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 2 MiB archive, at most 200 safe ZIP entries; selected word/**/*.xml limited to 40 parts, 200,000 bytes each and 1 MiB aggregate before extraction. Stored/DEFLATE, non-encrypted, non-ZIP64 entries only; expansion ratio 100×.
  • Inert browser XML parser required; DTD/entity declarations, malformed XML, excessive nodes/depth and more than 1,000 revision rows are refused. No full OPC validation, macro/malware inspection, redaction, acceptance/rejection or guarantee that omitted content contains no personal data.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Does zero revision elements prove the file contains no private information?

No. Only specified source elements in selected XML parts are inventoried. Other personal or hidden content can exist, and a complete document privacy review requires additional dedicated checks.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
