How to use Weighted Job Sequencing Workbench
Compare exact weight-to-duration ratios without dividing or rounding, retain input-order ties and export start, finish and due-date diagnostic rows.
- Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
- Compare exact weight-to-duration ratios without dividing or rounding, retain input-order ties and export start, finish and due-date diagnostic rows.
- Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.
Good to know
- 1–300 distinct jobs with positive durations and nonnegative weights/due times, decimal-string magnitude at most 1 billion. Use one consistent time unit.
- All jobs are ready at time zero. One machine, no interruptions, release dates, precedence, machine setup, breaks or calendar rules. Due-date lateness is displayed but is not the optimized objective.
- Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
Common questions
Does a high weight guarantee completion before the due time?
No. The weight changes the weighted completion objective. Due times are shown as diagnostics and do not constrain this model; unavailable jobs or hard deadlines require a different scheduling model.
Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?
No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
