How to use Video Timecode and Frame Count Calculator

Nominal frame labels count hours/minutes/seconds/frames. Drop-frame skips2 labels per non-tenth minute at30000/1001, or4 at60000/1001. Elapsed seconds use the actual rational rate, so a timecode hour is not automatically3600seconds.

  1. Enter timecode label hh:mm:ss:ff or hh:mm:ss;ff, frame count from label zero.
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Declared rates only; integer frames within one24-label-hour cycle. Drop-frame only30000/1001 or60000/1001, with semicolon separator. No frame deletion, video upload or transcoding.
  • Runs locally. Text/JSON fields are capped at30,000 characters; stricter page-specific and numeric-string limits also apply. Numeric inputs are bounded to magnitude1e15 and nonzero magnitude at least1e-100 unless an exact-string mode states otherwise. Approximate summaries use12 significant digits; CSV numeric cells retain the complete stored value and potentially formula-like string cells gain a protective apostrophe; unsupported, non-finite or detected underflow states return an error.

Common questions

Does drop-frame remove video frames?

No. It skips selected label numbers to keep timecode near clock time at NTSC rational rates. Actual frame data is not changed.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
