How to use Tiered Commission Calculator

Marginal rules allocate sales into successive brackets and add their payouts. Retroactive rules apply the achieved tier rate to the complete sales base. Upper boundaries are inclusive when choosing the achieved rate.

  1. Enter sales base, json tiers [upper limit, rate]; last limit null.
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • 1–50 JSON tiers [upper limit, rate fraction], increasing positive upper limits and a final null upper limit. Rates0–1; sales nonnegative. User contract arithmetic, not payroll or legal eligibility.
  • Runs locally. Text/JSON fields are capped at30,000 characters; stricter page-specific and numeric-string limits also apply. Numeric inputs are bounded to magnitude1e15 and nonzero magnitude at least1e-100 unless an exact-string mode states otherwise. Approximate summaries use12 significant digits; CSV numeric cells retain the complete stored value and potentially formula-like string cells gain a protective apostrophe; unsupported, non-finite or detected underflow states return an error.
  • Educational user-assumption arithmetic only. No live prices, laws, tax rules, quotes or financial advice.

Common questions

Why can the same tiers produce different totals?

Marginal brackets affect only the sales inside each tier. Retroactive tiers change the rate applied to the whole sales amount.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
