How to use Pump Curve Intersection Workbench

Overlay both flow grids, compare exact linear head differences on each common interval and retain isolated points, overlap ranges and source-segment provenance.

  1. Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
  2. Overlay both flow grids, compare exact linear head differences on each common interval and retain isolated points, overlap ranges and source-segment provenance.
  3. Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.

Good to know

  • Two tables of 2–100 [flow, head] pairs, strictly increasing nonnegative flow in m³/s and nonnegative head in meters. All entries are decimal strings at most 1 billion.
  • Continuous piecewise-linear interpolation only within the shared flow domain. Nonmonotone curves and multiple intersections are retained without choosing a stable operating point. No real pump catalog, power/efficiency guess, cavitation check, safe operating range or equipment recommendation.
  • Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Which reported crossing is the real operating point?

This calculation does not decide that. Your tables may have several equal-head points or a whole coincident range. Real stability, controls, minimum-flow limits and other physical conditions require separately validated engineering information.

Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?

No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
