How to use Single-transition Enthalpy Balance

Convert the initial temperature and phase fraction to specific enthalpy, add the supplied energy per mass and invert the monotone solid/plateau/liquid model. Report the signed sensible and latent energy changes separately.

  1. Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
  2. Convert the initial temperature and phase fraction to specific enthalpy, add the supplied energy per mass and invert the monotone solid/plateau/liquid model. Report the signed sensible and latent energy changes separately.
  3. Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.

Good to know

  • Positive mass in kg, heat capacities in J/(kg K) and latent heat in J/kg. Temperatures and final temperature are 0–1,000,000,000 K; signed added energy is at most 1,000,000,000 J. All quantities are decimal strings with six places.
  • Below the transition the initial liquid fraction must be 0; above it must be 1; at the transition supply 0–1 explicitly. One pure-material transition and constant entered properties only: no vaporization, heat loss, kinetics, supercooling or real-material safety advice.
  • Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Why can added energy change the phase fraction without changing temperature?

At the declared transition temperature, the model assigns energy to latent heat until the phase fraction reaches its boundary. Temperature changes resume only after that plateau is crossed.

Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?

No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
