Landed Cost Allocation Workbench

Allocate entered shipment fees across goods by units, value, weight, volume or equal lines, conserving every cent.

✓ Browser-local processing
Use the complete example schema. Quantities are exact decimal strings with up to six places; do not replace them with JSON decimal numbers.

How to use Landed Cost Allocation Workbench

Enter one shipment in a single two-decimal currency. Choose a basis separately for each fee, apportion exact cents by largest remainder, then inspect each line and per-unit acquisition cost.

  1. Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
  2. Enter one shipment in a single two-decimal currency. Choose a basis separately for each fee, apportion exact cents by largest remainder, then inspect each line and per-unit acquisition cost.
  3. Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.

Good to know

  • Up to 50 positive-quantity goods lines and 20 nonnegative fees; amounts from 0 through 1,000,000,000 with exactly representable whole cents. Quantities are at most 1,000,000 and weights/volumes at most 1,000,000,000 in consistent user-chosen units. A selected basis must have a positive total even when its fee is zero.
  • Goods cost is the entire line purchase cost. Weight and volume are entire line totals, not per-unit measurements. Equal-line allocation does not weight quantity. No rebates, foreign exchange, shipping quote, customs tariff lookup, tax eligibility or book posting.
  • Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Why can equal shares differ by one cent?

An indivisible cent cannot always be split evenly. Each fee first assigns the floor of its exact proportional shares, then gives remaining cents to the largest fractional remainders. Original line order breaks exact ties, and the complete fee remains conserved.

Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?

No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
