How to use Digital Biquad Filter Workbench

The bilinear-transform cookbook model uses your sample rate, center frequency and EE Q. Coefficients normalize a0 to one; strict second-order Jury margins verify the rounded denominator. Frequency response evaluates the transfer function, and optional samples use the stated zero-state direct-form recurrence.

  1. Enter sample rate (hz), center or corner frequency (hz), ee quality factor q, response frequencies json (hz), optional sample json array.
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Sample rate 1–1000000 Hz, center/sample-rate ratio 0.00001–0.49999, Q 0.1–100. 1–200 response frequencies within [0, Nyquist],and 0–512 samples of magnitude at most 1000000. Approximate coefficients and response; gain dB/phase are null at exact model zeros. No coefficient quantization, fixed-point overflow design, cascade, audio playback, hardware deployment or safety/perceptual guarantee. Sample output above magnitude 1e12 or a failed stability check is refused.
  • Local calculation only; no input persistence or external lookup. Text/JSON is limited to 30000 characters and output to 1000000 characters. Numeric model inputs and precision/work limits are stated on this page. Approximate JSON numbers retain full stored values; exact arithmetic outputs retain decimal or fraction strings. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Why are gain dB and phase missing at some frequencies?

At an exact zero the amplitude is zero, so its logarithm is negative infinity and its phase is undefined. The JSON uses null for these states instead of inventing a finite dB or angle.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
