How to use CSV Interval Overlap Join
Compare two interval datasets when neither side is merely a point observation. The output preserves every many-to-many overlap, exposes closure and touching-point behavior, and retains unmatched left records only when explicitly requested.
- Enter left csv, right csv, left group columns json, right group columns json, left start column, left end column, right start column, right end column.
- Choose the settings for csv interval overlap join, then run the tool.
- Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.
Good to know
- 500 intervals per side, 100,000 CSV characters per side (50,000 per cell, 100 columns), at most 250,000 candidate comparisons, 5,000 output rows and 350,000 planned cell characters. Finite bounded exact decimal endpoints only; exact output decimal spellings are limited to 100 places.
- One shared half-open or closed convention. Empty half-open intervals are refused; closed point intersections have zero numeric length. No timestamp parsing, inferred unit/discrete step, timezone, union coverage or scheduling optimization. Duplicate source intervals intentionally retain multiplicity.
- Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.
Common questions
Will two intervals that just touch produce a match?
Under [start, end] they intersect at one included point and produce length zero. Under [start, end) the shared endpoint is excluded from one side, so they do not overlap.
Is this input sent to a server?
No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
