How to use Binary Pixel Outline to SVG

Threshold a supported local raster and trace its exact pixel-cell boundaries into a separate black SVG silhouette. Choose a code-value luma cutoff and foreground polarity. Preserve holes and separate corner-touching pixel regions with a bounded grid-edge trace, without fitting curves or mounting the source as SVG.

  1. Provide static png, baseline jpeg or simple webp, encoded rgb luma cutoff.
  2. Choose the supported mode and run the tool. Review its assumptions and any reported errors.
  3. Copy the result or download a separate output; reset to clear the current form.

Good to know

  • Input up to 8 MiB, 2,000,000 pixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Uses the strict static raster preflight: PNG with checked chunk structure/CRC, one baseline JPEG frame or simple WebP. APNG, progressive JPEG, VP8X, compressed metadata and user SVG are refused before native decoding.
  • Thresholding uses browser-decoded 8-bit RGB code values: (2126 R + 7152 G + 722 B)/10000. Pixels with alpha below 128 are background. The cutoff is inclusive for the selected dark/light polarity; this is not linear-light color science or automatic subject detection.
  • At most 20,000 unit boundary edges and 5,000 closed contours. Jagged/noisy images can exceed this budget; resize or simplify them first. SVG output is capped at 300,000 characters.
  • Contours follow exact pixel-cell edges with four-connected foreground. Holes use even-odd fill; diagonal corner contacts stay separate. Only collinear vertices are removed. No Bézier fitting, smoothing, centerline tracing or semantic logo reconstruction occurs.
  • Worker module preparation has a separate 10-second deadline and trace computation a 2-second deadline. Native decoding remains subject to browser support; a JPEG whose decoded orientation dimensions disagree with its header is refused.
  • Generated SVG contains only fixed metadata and integer path coordinates. No source HTML/SVG, script, external reference, font or image is embedded. Browser color conversion and thresholding make this a derived silhouette, not an archival copy.
  • Inputs are processed on this device and are not automatically saved or uploaded.

Common questions

Will this create smooth editable curves from a logo or photo?

It produces a black SVG silhouette along the thresholded pixel grid. Holes and corners remain explicit, but no curves or subject recognition are inferred; use an appropriate vector editor if you need artistic curve fitting.

Does this change my original input?

No. The tool returns a separate result. Review that output before using it in another application.
