Activity Cost Pool Workbench

Apply planned activity rates to actual product drivers and reconcile underapplied or overapplied overhead.

Use the complete example schema. Quantities are exact decimal strings with up to six places; do not replace them with JSON decimal numbers.

How to use Activity Cost Pool Workbench

For each entered pool divide its budget by planned driver activity. Multiply that fixed rate by each product’s actual use, add direct product costs, and retain the signed difference between budget and applied overhead.

  1. Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
  2. For each entered pool divide its budget by planned driver activity. Multiply that fixed rate by each product’s actual use, add direct product costs, and retain the signed difference between budget and applied overhead.
  3. Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.

Good to know

  • Up to 50 products and 20 pools, with every product listed exactly once in every pool. Units and planned activity must be positive; actual driver use and money are nonnegative. Product units are at most 1,000,000; driver values and currency amounts are at most 1,000,000,000. Direct costs and budgets use whole cents.
  • Exact fractions retain sub-cent applied and per-unit amounts. This model does not distribute unused activity capacity or force applied overhead to equal the budget. No causal driver selection, accounting-standard certification, tax treatment, forecast or live data.
  • Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Why is some overhead left unabsorbed?

A predetermined rate uses planned activity as its denominator. If actual product use differs from that plan, applied overhead differs from the entered pool budget. The signed unabsorbed amount shows this difference; it is not silently charged to other products.

Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?

No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
