How to use Vocabulary Coverage Reviewer

Choose reading material with a transparent view of which literal word segments occur in an authored learning list. The report retains original passage offsets, known-word occurrences and the unlisted inventory. It supports a human teaching decision without claiming that a percentage predicts understanding or measures a learner’s vocabulary.

  1. Paste a passage and your own one-segment-per-line vocabulary list.
  2. Choose an explicit segmentation locale and exact comparison policies.
  3. Inspect covered token counts, original offsets and unlisted words; review phrases and meaning yourself.

Good to know

  • At most 50,000 well-formed passage UTF-16 characters, 30,000 vocabulary characters, 1,000 nonempty vocabulary lines and 10,000 retained passage segments. Each vocabulary line is at most 100 characters and must be exactly one letter-containing word-like runtime segment.
  • The denominator includes word-like segments containing a Unicode letter; standalone numbers and punctuation are excluded. Original zero-based UTF-16 positions remain unchanged by comparison normalization.
  • Comparison uses no normalization or NFC, followed by optional ASCII A–Z lowercasing. No full Unicode case folding, stemming, lemmatization, phrase matching, language detection or automatic translation is performed.
  • Zero retained tokens gives null coverage. Percentages round to two decimal places with exact nonnegative half-up arithmetic. Runtime segmentation data may differ between browsers. A listed token is not proof that a reader understands the word or passage.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Why are an inflected word and its base form counted separately?

This tool checks your literal declared vocabulary under the selected normalization and case rules. It does not guess morphology or meaning. Add the intended forms explicitly when they belong in your learning list.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
