How to use SVG Symbol Sprite Builder

Combine simple local geometric SVG icons into one actual symbol sprite with stable IDs and explicit source-use examples. Package a small set of owned path or shape icons into a reusable SVG asset. Each input is parsed as inert XML under a strict geometric profile; unsupported source that would need stripping is refused, and no supplied or rebuilt SVG is mounted on this page.

  1. Provide original geometric svg files.
  2. Choose the supported mode and run the tool. Review its assumptions and any reported errors.
  3. Copy the result or download a separate output; reset to clear the current form.

Good to know

  • Choose 1–20 strict UTF-8 SVG files with at most 100,000 aggregate input bytes. The source parser preflights declarations, element count and depth before inert XML parsing. Aggregate selected input is at most 2,500 elements and 10,000 geometry tokens, with at most 24 levels per document.
  • Every input requires a positive four-number viewBox and the SVG namespace. The selected profile contains groups, flat path/basic shapes, title/desc text, bounded numbers, hex/basic literal paints and supported presentation attributes. It does not implement arbitrary SVG visual behavior.
  • Scripts, styles, events, IDs/classes, references/URLs, use, transforms, foreign/nested SVG, images, text glyphs, fonts, filters, gradients, masks, clipping and animation are outside this profile. Unlike the separate source cleaner, this builder refuses an input that needs such subtree/attribute removal. Simplify the original explicitly first.
  • DTD/entities and stylesheet/other processing instructions are refused. An initial UTF-8 XML declaration is permitted. Original formatting, comments, declaration and non-geometric character text are omitted. Title/description markup becomes escaped literal text. No external resources are fetched.
  • Source root width/height are omitted in each symbol. The explicit viewBox, preserveAspectRatio and supported root presentation attributes remain; the consumer’s use viewport controls rendering. Stable IDs icon-001 through icon-020 follow input order, so replacing or reordering inputs changes that mapping. No source IDs or references are retained.
  • Download actual icons.svg or a JSON usage manifest with source file names, IDs, viewBoxes and escaped source examples referencing icons.svg#id. The consumer must host that asset appropriately and provide a useful accessible label and viewport; cross-origin resource policies and rendering remain integration concerns.
  • The output sprite is at most 200,000 UTF-8 bytes. Each source and the batch have a 3-second cooperative traversal check, not forced native XML-parser cancellation. No user or rebuilt SVG is previewed, opened or executed on the tool page. No general sanitizer, visual-parity or universal host-safety certification is claimed.
  • Structured text output is limited to 500,000 characters. Reduce the supplied source when that separate output budget is exceeded.
  • Inputs are processed on this device and are not automatically saved or uploaded.

Common questions

Can I use icons with gradients or references to other SVG IDs?

This selected builder refuses those references rather than guessing how to rewrite a larger SVG dependency graph. Supply independent flat geometry with literal paints, or keep the original asset in a workflow that actually supports its full semantics.

Does this change my original input?

No. The tool returns a separate result. Review that output before using it in another application.
