Stair Step Layout Workbench

Enumerate ideal uniform-riser stair profiles inside your entered rise and projection bounds, with a declared top-tread convention and exact coordinate trail.

✓ Browser-local processing
Use the complete example schema. Quantities are exact decimal strings with up to six places; do not replace them with JSON decimal numbers.

How to use Stair Step Layout Workbench

Enter the finished total rise, your own closed riser bounds and tread run, then choose whether the upper floor supplies the last landing. The tool tests each integer riser count up to your cap and returns the feasible profiles from the lower datum; it does not choose a building-code rule.

  1. Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
  2. Enter the finished total rise, your own closed riser bounds and tread run, then choose whether the upper floor supplies the last landing. The tool tests each integer riser count up to your cap and returns the feasible profiles from the lower datum; it does not choose a building-code rule.
  3. Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.

Good to know

  • Riser-count cap 1–300 and at most 10,000 combined profile corners; narrow the bounds when too many layouts fit. Total rise, positive riser bounds and tread run are at most 1,000,000 units; maximum projection 0–1,000,000,000. The complete report must fit the output budget. This is an ideal layout study, without framing deductions, structural design or compliance claims.
  • Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Are these coordinates ready to cut a load-bearing stringer?

No. They describe an ideal finished-surface step profile only. Thickness allowances, structural member sizing, supports, headroom, nosing and locally applicable requirements are outside this mathematical model.

Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?

No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
