How to use Deterministic Numeric K-means Workbench
The first row seeds the first center; each next seed is the row farthest from its nearest existing center. Lloyd assignments choose the first nearest center on a tie, then update nonempty centers to means. Fixed assignments and objective history make the local solution inspectable.
- Enter numeric observation matrix json, clusters k.
- Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
- Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.
Good to know
- 2–500 rows, 1–8 columns and k from 1 through min(10, row count). Numeric inputs have magnitude at most 1e9 and nonzero magnitude at least 1e-12. Standardization needs nonconstant columns. Fewer than k distinct prepared rows is refused; failure to converge within 100 iterations is refused. Empty clusters retain their prior center and report zero members. This is one deterministic local solution, not a global optimum, automatic k selection or a statement that groups are meaningful.
- Local calculation only; no input persistence or external lookup. Text/JSON is limited to 30000 characters and output to 1000000 characters. Numeric model inputs and precision/work limits are stated on this page. Approximate JSON numbers retain full stored values; exact arithmetic outputs retain decimal or fraction strings. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
Common questions
Why might another package return different clusters?
Initialization, scaling, tie handling and convergence rules can select a different local solution. This workbench fixes those conventions and exports the objective and assignments rather than claiming a unique best clustering.
Is the input uploaded or saved?
No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
