How to use Newton Force Mass Acceleration Calculator

Net force equals positive mass times signed acceleration. Inverse solutions preserve direction, and a solved mass must remain positive. This is a scalar constant-mass relationship.

  1. Enter net force (n), mass (kg), acceleration (m/s²).
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Newtons, kilograms and meters per second squared. Positive mass; force/acceleration may be signed. No relativistic, structural or vehicle-safety prediction.
  • Runs locally. Text/JSON fields are capped at30,000 characters; stricter page-specific and numeric-string limits also apply. Numeric inputs are bounded to magnitude1e15 and nonzero magnitude at least1e-100 unless an exact-string mode states otherwise. Approximate summaries use12 significant digits; CSV numeric cells retain the complete stored value and potentially formula-like string cells gain a protective apostrophe; unsupported, non-finite or detected underflow states return an error.

Common questions

Why is mass not calculated for zero force and acceleration?

That equation does not determine a unique mass. A nonzero force with zero acceleration also has no finite mass solution in this model.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
