How to use SHA Hash Generator
Compare text content by its SHA-2 digest without sending it to a server. The selected algorithm hashes the exact input bytes, including spaces, line endings, and a trailing newline if present.
- Enter exact text and select a SHA-2 algorithm.
- Select Run tool to hash its UTF-8 bytes.
- Review the result, then copy it or download the generated file.
Good to know
- Up to 200,000 UTF-16 input characters. This hashes text, not uploaded files or remote URLs; Web Crypto requires HTTPS or localhost.
- A plain hash is not encryption, a password-storage scheme, a signature, or proof that a source is trustworthy.
Common questions
Why do line endings change the hash?
A hash covers bytes. CRLF, LF, spaces, and trailing newlines produce different byte sequences.
